A common response to many internal questions is “Ask Carly…” and she always has an answer.

We’re pleased to introduce you to Carly Ray, Tendo’s Director of Marketing.

Carly enjoys a short hike in Arches National Park with a friend to get to the most iconic arch in Utah: Delicate Arch.

What’s your favorite part about your job?

The best part about Tendo, and my role specifically, is the people I get to work with. We have built an amazing early team here and I’m proud to work alongside such awesome teammates. Being a remote-first company also gives me the opportunity to expand my network and collaborate with people all across the country. I’m based in Salt Lake City, but I make sure to strategically place my Wawa cup in zoom meetings when I’m working with people from our Philly hub.

Why did you decide to join Tendo?

Working at a company in early stages of development allows each day to be filled with unique challenges. Every project is highly impactful to the success of the company and I feel that impact. I also wanted to work somewhere where the problem we are solving has a positive impact on people’s lives.

What do Tendo’s values mean to you?

Tendo values keep me accountable for producing great work.

Snake River in Jackson Hole, Wyoming is the perfect place for floating and fishing. It’s also one of Carly’s favorite places in the world.

Are you an early bird or a night owl?

Night owl, all the way! Some of my most productive hours are late in the evening, sitting on my couch with a laptop and snacks. There has to be snacks involved.

What’s the first technology you remember using?

This absolutely dates me, but AOL chat. I also remember when my elementary school first got a computer lab.

If you had 25 hours in a day, how would you use that extra time?

Can I teleport to an ocean with a book?

Do you have any hobbies outside of work?

Traveling and food. The best part of traveling to me is learning about and trying new cuisines. Sometimes its a fancy restaurant and sometimes it’s a tiny food cart on a corner in a busy city. If I could permanently live on the road I would.

A temple in Thailand on Carly’s first trip to Southeast Asia.

What are your top three favorite books or podcasts?

Some of my favorite things right now:

1. Favorite book:  Ready Player One. The book is always better than the movie.

2. Favorite podcast: This American Life. I will never tire of Ira Glass’s voice and great storytelling.

3. Favorite National Park visited: Glacier. Google going to the sun road and enjoy!

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

I love to garden. In the summer I have enough vegetables growing to share with all of my family and friends. I’m convinced there is nothing that tastes as good as a homegrown veggie.

What’s your favorite way to unwind after a long day?

I have to get outside. A walk around the block, a hike or working in my yard. Fresh air helps me unplug from the workday and recharge for personal time.

Fly fishing — and enjoying the scenery — in Henry’s Fork, near West Yellowstone.

Who would play you in a movie about your life?

Betty White (RIP) – For no other reason than I wish I was as witty and hilarious as her. She would make me much cooler than I actually am.

What’s the first concert you ever went to?

My 4th grade best friend’s dad took us to a Boys 2 Men concert at the Tacoma Dome in Washington. We had matching concert shirts, sat in the actual noise bleed section and still thought we were the luckiest kids that day. If I have to admit it, I still enjoy a little Boys 2 Men every now and again.

If you could eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Sushi!

Carly’s adventurous nature makes her the perfect fit for Tendo’s culture and our growing, evolving team. She’s a problem-solver and a critical thinker, and we’re grateful she’s #TeamTendo! If you’d like to work with her, we have a number of open roles available. Check them out and apply today!
